I just went to see Pan's Labyrinth with my best friend and sisters. Dang, that's one creepy, harsh movie. Except where it's beautiful. Definitely an old school fairy tale, from back when it wasn't just "happily ever after," but had the red hot shoes and all.
I read somewhere that a person "saves" $0.30 cents per mile by bicycling (you know, gas, wear and tear on the car...all that good stuff). I'm not sure how true it is, but it's as good as anything I can come up with. So now I'm "earning" up $0.30 for every mile I bike, with both the miles and the money in preparation for my trip. Unfortunately, I’m already $78.75 in debt.
Yesterday, I broke down at 3 in the morning and bought the Brooks B67S leather saddle from Harris Cyclery. That’s the way I usually buy large internet purchases—be confused about the options, research, compare, be more confused, find, lust, say “too expensive,” compare, dream, return to site, lust, compare, angst, stay up until 3, buy. I rarely regret it in the morning, so I guess it’s a good system. A delayed pleasure is all the sweeter. Yay!
Considering that my entire budget is now set at $477.00 (that’s 1590 miles, in case you don’t want to do the math), I’ll definitely need to earn some of the money riding around garage sales, looking for a decent bike.
